Hi guys, Denise here, a local girl born in Brixham and lived here all my life. A true Brixhamite!
My first job was here in town working for a local medical centre for 17 years, a great job where I met and became friends with so many people. I then took the scary step to leave to work in estate agency in Torquay and after many years I decided to work back in town and got a job in a local agents. Another great job and I enjoyed meeting many people who fell in love with Brixham and wanted to make it their home, I think this gave me a push to want to create something myself in my home town, lots of ideas went through my mind.
I left agency work and helped to set up and open a cafe in town, from this I wanted to do something for myself and October 2017 - my thinking cap went on, November I had secured a shop and eventually in May 2018, Taste, Cheese & Wine shop appeared on Middle Street.
Through 2018 I have tried to promote and stock as many local creators and producers as possible and can say I have a wonderful range of deliciousness in the shop.
To name but a few...... I have two local gins, produced here in the town centre - Red Sails and Deck Chair, I have Brixham Maid jams, curds and chutneys, local cheeses such as Devon Blue and Sharpham Rustic, wines from Lyme Bay and Sharpham, ciders from Yarde and Hunts, Ales from Hunters, local Brixham Honey, Yarde apple juice and elderflower cordial, the list does go on and I am always adding to it.
I have recently added to the extensive list - loose Belgian Chocolates and have go say they are going down very well ! Come and drool over the cabinet and treat yourself.
Over the Christmas period I was very busy with cheese orders and gift hampers so don't forget to place your orders!! 2018 I did over 100 hampers which blew me away being such a new business. Feedback was - they made fantastic Christmas gifts so keep that in mind when you're stuck for an idea!
I am always open to suggestions and listen to what customers want - that's how the Belgian Chocolates came along !!
